In response to Jeff Harris's 12 year project.

Wow Kate- Great find. I can't imagine the dedication it would take to do that for 12 years of your life.
Such an amazing way to document his story as well. It seems that the project almost forced him to be more active and to try to take the positives out of his heartbreaking situation.

The way I actually got into photography was by deciding to do a 365 day project- so I really do connect with this. Due to study stresses I didn't quite make it but I got to 200 photos. The broad majority of images were awful  but maybe once every 3-4 weeks there would be something I liked.  To this day I think that I learnt the most about photography and myself during that year. I'm sure I wouldn't be in this course now if I hadn't have done it.
Here's a small selection of the images (as embarrassing as they are) - I  wanted to try to not just have an ordinary boring photo of myself everyday and explore myself in the process

  1. Georgia these are incredible particularly if you shot them before you started the degree. Conceptually they are beautiful, great sense of self expression. I would imagine this would be both very challenging yet self fulfilling at the same time. Did you have inspiration from other artists for this series or was it your own vision of self exploration?. In this crazy world we can get pretty lost and feel like we are being pulled in a thousand directions. I think this is a great way to capture your fears, thoughts, emotions etc. You are an incredible talent Miss Georgia - In relation to Jeff Harris's 12 year project he mentioned the further he delved into the project the better and more creative the images became. As a viewer its encouraging to see the growth of the artist and get a sense who they are through their work - great post !

  2. Georgia! These are amazing! I had no idea you did these, how funny our posts are meshing!
It would be so interesting re-looking over this series - especially since you did this before our degree - because of all of the things you have learnt about photography, and knowing yourself and finding yourself over the past three years.
The conceptual element in all of these images is so fascinating, and makes it so interesting as a self-portrait a day for a year series. Did the images reflect your feeling/emotions of the certain day you took it, or did you pre-plan when you were feeling a certain way? I think this is really amazing, and watching Jeff's video made me want to do it, as I think you would find out so much more about yourself, and become a better photographer - BUT YOU ALREADY DID IT! Champion Georgia. :)

    1. Thanks Kate and Bec :) . Yes I was heavily inspired by many other photographers on flickr at the time. It is amazing how much you improve over a year (or 200 days for me), my first photographs were SERIOUSLY terrible. I had no idea how to even operate a camera manually throughout this stage. It's interesting now that I seriously struggle to come up with any concepts. Kate- you should give it a go! Maybe I'll start up again next year :)
